Happy Valentine’s Day

As a teenager, I used to approach Valentine’s Day with an equal mix of anticipation and fear. Would I have a secret admirer? A not-so-secret admirer? Did I have the courage to send someone I liked a card? I remember one boy sauntering into music class and giving every girl in it a tiny chocolate heart. The other boys in the class immediately began calling him Romeo, right up until he gave them all a chocolate heart too. Lots of different things he got called then… but he refused them all with a wide, cocky grin. ‘I love youse all,’ he said, channeling Elvis. ‘And I win at Valentine’s Day.’ No argument there. He had one heart left over – that boy could not count. Or maybe he could. You see, one smiley, laughing person got two…

I’ve a Valentine’s story available this year. I revisited one of my favourite older stories, added another 30,000 words to it and had something wonderfully unexpected happen to my heroine on Valentine’s Day. The story used to be called ‘Wife For A Week‘ – this expanda-version is called ‘The Trouble With Valentine’s‘ and it’s available on shelves and in e in Australia and the UK. It’s even taking part in a Love On The Underground promotion – in that this book and others are being dropped on train seats on the London Underground for travelers to pick up and take home and read… I LOVE this promotion – it makes me grin. My publisher, Harlequin Mills and Boon, wins at Valentine’s Day too…
